Changes….

Changes lie ahead…… Not just in this post, but all over.

I’ve gone solo officially now and left my clan. Hence the officially bit. Burnt out from gaming, and TF2 in particular. Supposedly a lot of people have been getting burnt out from TF2 in the past few weeks, prompting them to stop playing. I can see why, playing a game too much can make it dull, or in my case, my pc is pretty useless once it reaches the 12 v 12 point in any server I play in. Graphically it turns rubbish anyway, loss of FPS etc. Time to get a job and start saving up money for a new one then…or just save up for Christmas.

Other changes? I’m starting to become less cynical and emo-like, and more a decent person. That’s a story for another time though.

Now, changes in the world of (Pc) Gaming. Umm, Left4Dead is coming out soon? So I’m willing to bet all those burnt out people(including me) will probaly be game junkies again cos of that. I don’t see any other changes really cos I still see NERF DEMO NOW and CRY SOME MOAAR! threads in the TF2 forum in the Steam forums…wait, it’s the TF2 forum in the Steam forum. Alright, it used to be NERF PYRO NOW!!!!, so that’s some change I suppose.

What other news is there outside of gaming? Well, my room is really really cold, I burnt my finger today, oh, and I’m considering starting a small sub series of short stories in the style of blog posts here, and the 1st one would be called “To catch a serial troll.” All relating to gaming in some way or the other of course. It’s work in progress. Expect one some time in a few weeks once I finish all the important stuff in my life at the moment (finding a part time job etc).

Ceya’s.

In response to… and gaming comments.

Yeah I’m back already.

So, I just went and read Crushed’s first blog. Not bad man, not bad.

Anyways, something in his post got me thinking, and it was that thing about what you think of FPS Games?

Honestly? Well, I’ve actually got a list of what I think of them, and some things that always turn up in some way… usually on the back of the gamebox.

“Amazing hi-def, never before seen environments” Basically, this means in ‘devtalk’, yep it’s got a lava level… but in high def and it looks really real!

There’s always some level in a FPS, that you’ll hate, which when you complete the game, you’ll then strive to either rush through or just skip it entirely just to avoid it. I’d say nearly every single single-player game is guilty of this. In the case of multiplayer, you’ll usually find that only a few, hardcore servers will have those maps on. Well, okay, the servers might have just started… alright, next bit.

“The sequel to the smash hit” Well, okay, this can usually mean nothing as for all we know, this sequel could be the successor to Super Turbo Pig Racer 9000. Actually that sounds quite cool.

“From the people who brought you…” Mick the tea boy was in the team who made the last one. Err, does that count?

Now, onto other stuff. The types of FPS Games.

The graphic massacre maniac- Oh c’mon, you know what I mean. The games that result in steam litereally appearing off your pc,and results in the graphics card going on fire.

The grey monsters- By this I mean the games that basically appear to have settings consisting of the colour grey,oh,and a bit of brown and occasionally blood. If it can stand the excitement. This seems to apply to a lot of games set in the future for some reason.

The revolutions-The ones that catch you off your cynical guard and make you go “woah, now that’s unique”. For example, Doom…… back when it first came out that is.

The copycats- Unfortunately a lot of games can be put in this group.

The oddballs- The games that are so crazy that you cant follow them with any logic. Killer7 is a fine example of this.

The ugly kids- Err, bad name I guess, but usually you get games that come out that, how can I put this nicely… don’t look attractive. That’s the nice way of putting it. The other way is this, “Hey, uhh, is it just me or does this game look like it was hit by a truck?”

The rest- which I’m too lazy to put here.

Laters folks

The Best Food to Eat Whilst Gaming

I know I’m not my own here when I talk about those twangs your stomach gets whilst in the middle of a session, as I’m sure you all get hungry whilst gaming, but what is the best food and drink to have whilst playing?

FOOD

Crisps: Crisps are a quick way to feed hunger, so you don’t have to take your eye off the screen for too long to pick up a crisp, they also taste nice, but they aren’t that good for you. Also once you have taken a crisp out of the packet to eat it your hands get all greasy and this will mess up the keyboard and mouse.

Sandwiches: A nice sandwich whilst you are sat playing will definitely conquer the mid-game hunger. But a sandwich will cause you to take your hand off of the keyboard and mouse for a significant amount of time to take a bite then to put the sandwich down again, however it won’t make as much mess as crsips.

Apple: 1 of your 5 a day…enough said?

Sweets: My personal favourite I have to admit, the food you can just eat as you want and won’t go off, or go cold. So you can eat sweets all day long without messing up the keyboard and mouse like crisps. Although most sweets aren’t that good for you they are what I’d prefer to eat.

Sausage roll: ummmmm….Sausage rolls. I love them lol. Anyway sausage rolls can be eaten hot or cold and shouldn’t make much mess, just like a sandwich they will defeat the hunger.

Toast: Toast would be quite annoying to eat whilst gaming because it will probably go cold before there is a suitable time to eat it, so if I was you I would try and keep well clear of eating toast whilst gaming. Also if you like butter on toast you may get your keyboard and mouse dirty.

DRINK

Coca-cola (bottle): A nice bottle of coke is nice to drink when you need a drink also if you have had enough you can just put the bottle down, put the cap back on and drink it later on.

Coca-cola (can): A fizzy drink in a can, can be good when you need a quick drink to quench your thirst. Unlike the bottle you cannot re-use it or fasten the cap to drink it later. On the other hand you can just put it down and keep drink it without having to open it.

Energy drink: My personal favourite. A quick boost of energy to get you in the mood to win. You will become more alert and will help on them all-nighters.

Water: Plain and simple just water, nothing special. What’s to say? Yes…it will stop you feeling thirsty.

Coffee: Again the caffeine content will help you become more alert and help on doing all-nighters, but this drink can become cold quite quick and it’s not as nice cold as it is hot.

So when you next feel hungry or thirsty whilst gaming, what are you going to eat and drink?

Broken Bones, Broken Spirits

So…This may bore you but, I have broken my finger and it is hard for me to type on my laptop, to be honest it is actually quite funny watching my fingers struggle to hit the correct keys to make up for the finger that can’t type.

But when you come to think of all the things in every day life you use your hands for its rather annoying when you know you won’t be able to do it.

Anyway I have found out that it is a distinct disadvantage when you are surrounded by lots of people on the opposing team, and I cannot press shoot without screaming out in agony because I have just hit my finger on the side of my laptop.

Now, if you break a leg, you can lay in bed all day owning on TF2 or CSS and get better and better, good times. If you break your arm this dampens your spirits because you think you are getting worse at a game, and all that happens is, you get frustrated with yourself and your arm will hurt, bad times.

So, if any of you guys have an interesting story of you breaking any bones, I’ll be interested to read them…

My First Blog!!

Well i guess it time to do my first blog!!..

So I have decided to base my blog on FPS games, and my thoughts about them..

First and foremost i love FPS games, and in particular Futuristic simulations, what i mean is FPS games based in the future but with the feel of real life, BF2142 for example…….

I believe there to be to many WWII Based games out there, COD for example and my problem is with these games is that there is only so many times you can play the same battle over and over again, but then you end up with the situation of game developers believing Futuristic means ‘ Heavy high end Graphics’, and less game play, although i do like to see realistic features in a game that doesn’t mean to say that I want to sacrifice game play.

Obligatory blog post about -=MD=- getting teh sponserhship thingy

Uhh…so, a post about a clan winning a sponsorship… how to make that sound exciting… okay I have no clue at all.

Oh wait, I have a idea.

WOOHOO -=MD=- WON!!!!!!!  I JUST LOVE USING CAPS FOR STUFF LIKE THIS! DOES THIS MAKE IT SOUND  EXCITING?

No. If it did though, that’d be epic.

Anyway, new stuff apart from that. Let’s see, I have a mobile phone now and don’t know how to use it. Im So proud of myself. What else in the (great, uber leet, perfect) life of knifer21? (yeah I was kidding about it being perfect, it’s more just normal)

Well, it’s now an official fact I’m one of the worst players in TF2 now(and I’m a TF2 squad leader as well, oh brill, I feel sorry for the people under my command now. Ah well, sucks to be them.) Let’s see, my bad points in TF2: Quiet, backstabbing fiend (or a spy, only less French), not good at giving orders, don’t like telling people what classes they should pick, oh and I’m Scottish*. That alone outweighs all my good points.

Good points: I have a cool name.

Next blog post will probably be something daft, or it’ll be a blog post by another blogger. I hope the latter. Laters folks.

*Yeah I’m just messing around here. Scottish is actually a really really good point to have of course :)

Here’s what I think some things mean in TF2

TF2 Pyro

Hey folks, Me Again.

Point of this blog post? No idea.

Anyway, things that are said in TF2, and other stuff, and what it usually means to me, and what usually happens cos of that.

“Spy!”

What the hell do you mean by this? Is it a spy on our team? Their team? You know what, I think this guy meant there’s a spy on our team! We’re safe then-arrghh!…… cue ‘knifer21 has been killed’ message.

“(in textchat in-game)Little Timmy:brb.”

They never come back. And if they do, it’s usually when we’re playing on a Friday night, and now Little

Timmy is now singing the best of Queen on the freaking mic. And sounds like he’s drunk…wait, it’s Friday night…

The beginning and end of communities

Been thinking about this for a wee while.

If you’ve been around the internet for longer than a day, no doubt you’ve at least heard of forums, if not joined them. They are the places where you can go chat to people all over the world about stuff……… or in the case of 4chan, chat to people and make up memes and other stuff……. less said of the /b section the better.

So, where was I, oh yeah, forums…….. Now, I’ve been around the internet long enough and a few forums to pick up a…….. 6th sense if you will, in that I can sense that soon something is gonna change. And probably not for the better.

The process/development behind a blog

We here at XTR* strive to bring you honest reviews, newest, err, news, and other activities relating to gaming or whatnot. We strive for a better future and for better blogging all over the world.

Yeah,I should totally work for XTR.

Anyway, this blog isn’t going to be a rant or some helpful advice. Nah, today, I’m going to show you,the reader,t he process and development behind the XTR blog.

So here’s my process of making a blog

Step 1: First, I have to consider who my target audience is, what will they be expecting from me,the blogger? What will they want to hear about?

Step 2 : Now that I’ve considered this, what will the blog be about? What will the title be? Remember, it has to be catchy!

Step 3: Consider what the message behind this blog post is. And remember, quality is more important than quantity! In other words, no 200 page novels about a yoghurt.

Step 4: Now start with a starting point eg My First blog!!!

Step 5: Write up my beautiful captivating story/news/whatever it is

Step 6: Submit for review

Change of plan, this sucks. This isn’t how I roll. Here’s how I really do it.

Clans, Where it all began.

Simple title I know, but it’s something that sprang to mind when I was writing up a journal entry in my clan’s forums.

If you’re reading this, chances are you’re in a clan aye? Ever wonder about how it started sometimes?

Where Clan's began....... allegedly!!

I know how my clan started, sure, but what I’m thinking about about is what the very first gaming clan must have been, and when it began, because for some reason, I always imagine a group of people at a arcade machine, playing Pac Man probably, then one of them thinking suddenly, “Y’know, we could play this game against other groups! And have tournaments and stuff!”

Mind you, I can also imagine how the clan matches against other clans would have went…

Whoever gets the most points without dying once wins the round! God, that could drag on for hours…rather much like infantry only matches can on certain maps of Battlefield 2142, ( Shia Tubia I’m looking at you, you life-sapping fiend!)

So, have a think about that,
it’s food for thought if you’ve nothing better to do
