Every single time there is a game released, and its successful, you can bet your life savings the developers are thinking….. “well they loved that lets give them more”. And thus, we get sequels. But are the developers really thinking that? Or is it more, well they loved that, lets milk them a bit more by giving them the same game, sugar-coated to look nicer and up the price by £20?
On the other hand though, I have to hold my hand up and say, disregard that term the original was better, because some you just got to hand it to them. Gta4 was much better than the original GTA……… but, did it better GTA3? still regarded as the best release of the series due to the fact that it was the game that brought us 3D GTA!.
Another one, the Tomb Raiders series, now seems to by dying out, but I can remember the hours spent at home sitting playing Tomb Raider Two on the old Ps1, while finding the first one rather dull.
That’s why I put the question to you, are sequels simply more to love or a money cow? Sometimes they can be a great success and ill be the first in line to defend them if they are. But if it is pretty much the same game, they need to answer the questions critical or not, that are thrown their way!
