Who can run Crysis?

November last year… Crysis is released, and we were all more excited than a kid named Charlie with a fistful of golden ticket!

But why then, would the developers go and spoil it by making a game that only a certain few people can run. Was this to secure their place in the future pc games market, was it them showing off, or was it the sheer audacity of them ignoring their majority customer base.
