Who can run Crysis?

CrysisNovember last year… Crysis is released, and we were all more excited than a kid named Charlie with a fistful of golden ticket!

But why then, would the developers go and spoil it by making a game that only a certain few people can run. Was this to secure their place in the future pc games market, was it them showing off, or was it the sheer audacity of them ignoring their majority customer base.

The reason for my blog, is that I have just been thinking about Crysis and once again began pondering over the recommended minimum spec, and why even after half a year, it seems that there is a shortage of people that can run it comfortably.

The Minimum spec is as follows: –

CPU: 2.8Ghz Dual-core CPU (Athlon X2/Pentium D)
Graphics: Nvidia 7800GTX/ATI X1800XT (SM 3.0) or DX10 equivalent 256MB+
RAM: 1.5Gb
HDD: 12GB
Internet: 512k+ (128k+ upstream)
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX9.0c with Windows Vista

I also found that the ‘Nvidia 7800GTX’ graphics card can cost around $500/£254.83 which seems a lot to spend on a gfx card just to be able to run a single game

Personally, I think the reason we are still seeing this slow uptake, is that it was developed under a combination of all the afore mentioned reasons……Let me know what you think. :D
