There is always uncertainty when deciding to purchase a product, especially if you know very little, or nothing about who you are buying it off. This is why we have put together a little information about us, our services and how we deliver them.

So, here are some of the most frequently asked questions about our game servers, voice servers and other products, answered for you. If there is anything we have left out, please feel free to contact us and ask us directly.

What's the spec of the servers that you use?

Our game servers run on Windows servers, each one packing 2 Intel 1.6GHz Quad Core Xeon's and a massive 16GB Memory.

What spec is the network?

All our data centres are state of the art, residing on a multi-routed fibre network. All are our servers are hosted in optimum environmental conditions, have 24 hour manned security, CCTV, fire protection, and triple failure power supply. Do you offer an uptime guarantee?

Yes. XTR Game Servers Guarantee an uptime of 99.99%, in fact we guarantee a whole lot more than just uptime. A full detailed breakdown can be found in our service level agreement (SLA).

Do you offer an FTP fast download service?

We do indeed, and best of all we don't charge for this service. Although this is still only possible for a limited number of games, as not all servers offer this function. Once your game server is up-and-running, simply get in touch to request that we set this up for you.

Do you use a control panel to manage games?

Yes. All our game servers are provisioned and managed by a central server control panel. We also have a demo account that you can use to test out the panel, details can be found on the server control panel page.

What games do you offer?

We currently offer an extensive list of games, one which is always growing. Check our full games list to see what we currently offer.

Why are some games missing?

XTR Game Servers believe in fully testing all aspects of a game before making it publically available, which takes time. However, once a game is given the green light from our testing department, it will be made available.

If a game does not appear on our game list, feel free to contact us to find out if/when it will be available.

Do you allow mods & custom maps?

Yes we do, after all who are we to say how your server is set up. Once your game server is up and running, you can select your chosen mods or maps from our list, and have them installed automatically. Alternatively you can upload them yourself using either the built in file manager or by ftp.

Can I upload my own maps, mods & sounds etc?

Yes, however there are restrictions in place preventing certain file types from being uploaded. This is simply to ensure that our network stays free from nasties.

If you want a mod or map uploading that includes restricted file types, simply submit a support ticket with the file zsipped and attached, requesting it be added for download.

Once the files have the ok, they will then be uploaded to our central servers, and made available for you to download. You will have to ensure that you keep on top of your map and mod downloads, as we only allow a maximum of 500MB of space for maps and mods.

Am I able to manage my own server files?

Yes you are. You will be given access to your server files and will be able to make changes and tweaks as you see fit. Obviously, changing certain things are out of bounds depending which package you chose, such as branding, server rates, slot number, etc. Details of these can be found in our terms, as well as the consequences of changing them!!!

Do you offer servers without your branding?

But of course, simply select the option to have your server de-branded when placing your order. If you already have a server with us which is branded and wish to have it de-branded, simply contact us to speak to someone about having this arranged.

What is your support policy?

Basically if you have a problem with your server we will always try and help to get you back up and running as soon as humanly possible. Our support is based on ensuring that all services we have provided run and function as they should, and are kept that way. All our support staff are fitted with Borg implants to help them work efficiently 24/7.

We also appreciate that there are times when you will ask us to install additional services such as mods or plug-ins to your server. Although we will always offer a helping hand when & where possible regarding any additional content, we ask that you take responsibility for any additional content, and the upkeep of it.

Do I need my own game server?

Not necessarily, as you can obviously play on one of the many public servers available. However, having your own server allows you to control how the server is ran, who plays on it, and means you can have privacy should you want it. Plus, if no-one had their own game servers, there wouldn't be any to play on!!

Do you have regular maintenance?

We aim to keep our planned downtime to a minimum; however there will always be occasions when it is required. When it does become necessary, we will always give you as much notice as possible of notice to ensure you can make your players aware.

Can I stop people going on my server?

Yes, there are a number of ways you can do this. Firstly by using your admin controls to kick or ban unwanted players, or by selecting to have a private server when you purchase a game server. This means only people with your server's password can access the server.

Will my server slow down if too many people connect?

In a word, no. All our game servers sit within a state of the art network, and run on the highest quality hardware available. On top of this we ensure that all our servers are totally balanced, to ensure that whether your server is full or virtually empty, you always get the best performance possible.

What games do you support?

Here at XTR Game Servers we supply a vast range of game servers, which is constantly expanding. We have provided a full list of what we supply on our game servers web page.

What's the max amount of people allowed on a server at any one time?

The max amount of players on a game server is determined by the number of slots you purchase. Obviously the number you are able to purchase is dependant on how many the game will allow.

Once bought, when will my server be ready to use?

We always aim to have your game server ready to use in less than 4 hours.

How do you control your server?

We provide a fully functional control panel with all our game servers, which offers a quick, easy to use method of controlling your game server. However, there are a number of other 'RCON' systems available which can vary from game to game.

Can I allow cheats on my server?

Although at XTR we do not condone the use of cheats, or cheating in general, as it is you renting the server, it is up to you to decide whether or not you want cheats to be allowed on your server.

If a new patch comes out, how fast will it be on the server?

When a new patch or update is released we always ensure it is accessible for you to use on your server as soon as possible. Installing the patch is done through the users control panel.

Can I try out a server before I buy?

Yes, the best way to try out an XTR game server is to have a go on our freely to use public servers. The IP addresses and ports can be found on our public servers page.
