CoD4 Reformated your PC

If for some reason your PC needs to be reformated (as in deleting everything and reinstalling your operating system) your CoD4 online account will be gone!

The reason for this is because your account is stored on your PC, not online.

The best way to counter this is to periodically backup the "mpdata" file in your "profiles" folder in the CoD4 folder.

(This can be found usually in C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players)

Then after you back it up, zip it and try to either put it on a disk by burning it onto a CD, or save it somewhere online. Maybe send it to your email account, or upload it somewhere safe.

In case you ever have to reformat your PC, you won't lose your CoD4 account.

Yea that happened to me after i got to level 55 and then reformatted for i33 and then pew it was all gone =[ i was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :'(

I recently reformatted, losing everything...Took me so long to get the Red skins for my guns too, even had it on the R700 sniper...Wounder...

Has anybody got a link to something wher you can just download the file that makes you an instant level 55? I know its cheating but if you have already reached level 55 its really anoying when you have to start again

I don't think that is possible is it, Sure the file has code so as you can only use your own..

There are some clever data recovery programs out there which may also be able to help.. Getdataback by runtime software is a good one..

yes I think we have all been there!! On my new PC had teething problems and boy was I angry :bigg: started about 3 times thanks for the heads up

This is the best idea there is... but remember, and this is IMPORTANT!!!!

If you are going to use one of these type of programs, ensure you DON NOT INSTALL IT ON THE DRIVE WHERE YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO RECOVER THINGS. Otherwise you run the risk of overwriting the files you hope to recover

Instead, install it to a different drive, preferably an external drive, or completely separate hard drive.
